(SomaliNet)A Palestinian diplomat in Cairo said on Monday that Egypt is to reopen the Rafah border crossing with the Gaza Strip for two days to allow hundreds of stranded people on both sides to cross.
The crossing will be open starting on Tuesday to Palestinians who wish to get medical care in Egypt, according to diplomat Nabil Amr.
He said Palestinians returning from abroad will also be allowed into Gaza from Egypt, adding that the opening of the border was "humanitarian" decision.
The move also followed talks on Sunday between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Egypt's chief of intelligence
Omar Sulaiman.
In Israel, government spokesman Mark Regev had no comment on the Egyptian announcement.
The Rafah crossing, the main gateway for Gaza's 1.4 million people, was sealed after Hamas took over Gaza one year ago.-Agencies
