South Africa: Bus crash kills 30 in Mpumalanga province

(SomaliNet) A bus plunged into a river in Mpumalanga province in South Africa killing atleast 31 people, in an accident that local police say the driver lost control of the wheel for reasons that have not yet been determined.

The bus driver was killed, together with 26 passengers. Five other passengers died later in hopsital. An unknown number of passengers are receiving hospital treatment.

Traffic accidents occur frequently on South Africa's often isolated and poorly maintained roads. In May, 28 people died in a bus crash in the eastern Cape Province-RNW
