Somalia: Calm returns to fateful area in Lower Shabeelle

(SomaliNet) Calm has returned to areas where Somali government forces, recently trained in Ethiopia, backed by Ethiopian troops, and groups opposed to the Transitional Federal Government and the presence of Ethiopian troops in Somalia fought on Monday.
Area residents have started fleeing from the areas where Monday's fighting, in which different kinds of weapons were used, took place.
Experts say the residents who are concerned about renewed fighting are fleeing from the area in large numbers after government forces and Ethiopian troops established bases in the area.
The fleeing of the residents come as hundreds of Somali troops are heading to Somali capital while islamist fighters have dug up trenches at the roads that the traveling soldiers will use for their travel to Mogadishu where heavy fighting might erupt if the two sides clash once again. –Mareeg Online
