Serie A : Juventus signs Liverpool’s Sissoko at £8.2 million Tue. January 29, 2008 09:27 am.- By Bonny Apunyu. - (SomaliNet) Midfielder Mohammed Sissoko has signed for Italian giants Juventus in an £8.2 million deal from Liverpool. The 26-year-old has penned a five-year contract with the Bianconeri after failing to break into Rafa Benitez's first team plans at Anfield. "I am happy to have arrived at such an important club," Sissoko told Juve's official website. "The move definitely constitutes a step forward in my career. "I am thrilled at the thought of being able to play with great champions of the calibre of [Gigi] Buffon and [Alessandro] Del Piero and to find again [Claudio] Ranieri, who is a great coach for whom I have already played at Valencia." The former Auxerre player joined Liverpool from Valencia in 2005 but a serious eye injury hampered his progress and despite signing a new deal with the Reds last summer, he made it clear he wanted to move elsewhere this January. The Mali international will join up with his new team-mates once his involvement at the African Cup of Nations is over. Sissoko becomes Ranieri's second signing of the winter transfer window after the Italian tactician captured Guglielmo Stendardo on loan from Lazio.
