Premier League: Gilberto Silva is set to leave Arsenal Wed. February 06, 2008 07:10 am.- By Bonny Apunyu. -
(SomaliNet) Arsenal’s Gilberto Silva is set to leave the club but Hleb's agent said reported interest from the Catalan giants would not persuade the Belarusian to leave "the ideal manager" Arsene Wenger.
"I can understand why Barcelona would be interested in Alex," Niki Spilevski told The Sun. "But Alex loves life at Arsenal. He feels he is at the best club in the world.
"He has the ideal manager, he loves his team-mates and loves London. Why would he want to leave?"
The 26-year-old has emerged as a key player for the Gunners in his third season at the club, helping them confound expectations to mount a serious title challenge.
However, Gilberto said he expects to leave the Emirates Stadium after being frozen out of the first-team picture.
The Brazilian have started just five Premier League games this season, and only once since September, with his midfield anchor position going to Mathieu Flamini.
The 31-year-old expects his six-year association with Arsenal to end in the summer, and said: "At the moment I cannot see any future for me at the club."
"I will see what will happen in the next few months and until the end [of the season], if I will get the chance to come back in the team. If not, I will see what I am going to do at the end.
"It's been painful for me and to stay another season like this would kill me. I will sit down with Arsene and see what we can do to manage the situation.
"I am not happy in the position I am in but I am trying to manage the situation.
"I am very calm and I'm being professional as I've always been. We'll see at the end of the season what is going to happen."-Eurosport
