Pool chief executive Rick Parry told to resign by club owner Tom Hicks Fri. April 11, 2008 02:55 am.- By Bonny Apunyu. -
(SomaliNet) Liver pool’s chief executive Rick Parry has been told by the club owner Tom Hicks to resign. Sources say the long-standing chief executive has been made aware of the demand and is expected to refuse.
Responding to the news, Sky News sports presenter Jon Desborough said: "Now we have a full soap opera on our hands."
He said Mr Hicks was believed to be keen for Parry to move on because of a "disparity in the commerical revenues" of the club.
Pool Manger Rafael Benitez is also reported to have expressed "disappointment" at the chief executive's performance in the transfer market, Desborough said.
However, there is no suggestion that Liverpool's other American owner George Gillett, who sat alongside Parry during Liverpool's Champions League quarter final second leg victory over Arsenal on Tuesday, supports the move.
Hicks, who had watched the club's previous two matches, was back in Dallas watching his Texas Rangers' baseball team while the team played out one of the games of the season.
The spokesman for a Liverpool fan group looking to takeover the club said the squabbling was "more power to our elbow".
Professor Rogan Taylor said "you couldn't get a more vivid example of the problems at the club," which sees a chief executive "forced or attemptedly bullied into resign".
Mr Parry is currently in London at a Premier League meeting.
The shock request is the latest twist in an already fraught club relationship away from the famous Anfield pitch following Tom Hicks and George Gillett's takeover of the club in February 2007.
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez's position has been the subject of constant public doubt after apparently falling out with the club.-Sky news
