(SomaliNet) As they tried to storm the Chinese consulate in Nariman Point in south Mumbai, nearly 60 Tibetan youths were arrested in India's financial capital Mumbai on Thursday.
Public demonstrations are not allowed in Mumbai.
As some 50 Tibetan students were arrested in the morning, seven boys and one girl were detained by the police in the afternoon when they, too tried to enter the Chinese consulate.
According to the police, 54 Tibetans have been arrested for trespassing and lodged in the Marine Drive police station.
Rules ban protests in South Mumbai, where government offices, courts, business houses and educational institutions are located. –Agencies
