Premier League: Chelsea cuts United's lead to just two points Fri. April 18, 2008 02:14 am.- By Bonny Apunyu. -
(SomaliNet) With a fundamental league title decider awaiting the pair at Stamford Bridge on April 26, Chelsea cut United's lead at the top to just two points with victory at Goodison Park.
Michael Essien's 41st-minute strike was enough to smother Everton's hopes, and the Toffees have now virtually lost all hope of catching Liverpool in fourth - they are now five points adrift of their neighbours, with an inferior goal difference.
But the Blues are aware that United must get something at Blackburn on Saturday - or they will be waiting to pounce a week later.
Everton boss David Moyes told his club's official website: "I'm disappointed that we didn't take anything, but we didn't play well enough to take anything out of the game.
"You never want to lose a goal, but before the break it makes it a little bit more difficult. It's hard to get goals against them."-Eurosport
