Champions League: Chelsea manager, Drogba tells Rafa to mind his own buisness Wed. April 30, 2008 08:53 am.- By Bonny Apunyu. -
(SomaliNet) After Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez accused Chelsea striker Didier Drogba of going to ground too easily, Chelsea manager Avram Grant has warned Liverpool counterpart Rafa to mind his own business ahead of the second leg of their Champions League semi-final.
The Reds boss revealed at the weekend that he has compiled a dossier of video footage showing Drogba diving, purportedly to make his defenders aware of the Ivorian's antics.
"He is amazing because he is massive," Benitez said.
"It's very impressive. I have a lot of clips of him from over the years and he surprises me. After four years, I expected it."
But Grant hit back, increasing the tension ahead of the Stamford Bridge clash by claiming Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher is lucky not to be suspended for the game.
"In the first half [of the first leg], easily, the referee could have given a yellow card to Carragher to get him banned for this match," he said.
"If you look at the video and see what Carragher did to him [Drogba] in the first game, the referee was very polite. I suggest you look at the video again."
Benitez dismissed Grant's claims about Carragher, saying: "I don't agree. The first thing is Drogba is a fantastic player, but he goes down too easily."
Drogba was also insulted by the Spaniard's comments and backed up his manager's claims concerning former England man Carragher.
"Perhaps he is looking for something to destabilise us before the match," he told L'Equipe.
"Benitez was a manager I respected a lot. Until now, I found him not only very competent but also classy.
"But he has really disappointed me here. His words demonstrate a weakness. A top manager would never go so low to attack a player.
"Maybe he should concentrate on his own team's game and if he wants me to stay on my feet, maybe he should tell his defenders to stop hitting me.
"In the first leg, Carragher and the other one [Martin Skrtel] didn't stop. And not just with me. I finished the match with bruises everywhere.
"Last year, I broke a rib against Liverpool in the Champions League semi-final. Strangely, that escapes the statistics of Benitez.
"It will not affect me. If I fall, I will always get up. The best response I can give will be on the pitch."
Chelsea hold a slight advantage going into the second leg after John Arne Riise's injury-time own-goal earned them a 1-1 draw and a precious away goal in the game at Anfield last week.-Eurosport
