U.S: Jury convicts Taliban member on narco-terrorism charges Fri. May 16, 2008 02:04 am.- By Bonny Apunyu. - (SomaliNet)The US Justice Department said in a statement that a US jury has convicted a Taliban member on charges of narco-terrorism and narcotics distribution. The statement said Khan Mohammad from Afghanistan is the first person to be convicted under a narco-terrorism provision of the USA Patriot Act. Mohammad was convicted on Thursday and faces a minimum sentence of 20 years and a maximum of life in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced on October 10. " Khan Mohammed intended to ship heroin to the United States and use profits from the trade to assist the Taliban," said DEA administrator Michele Leonhart.
