France: Parachute kills two at soccer stadium

(SomaliNet) French police said on Friday that a parachutist was killed when he struck a pylon at the soccer stadium he was trying to land in, and a teenage spectator died after being flung against a barrier by the torn parachute.
The parachutist was blown off course while trying to land in the Saint-Denis-de-l'Hotel stadium, 150km south of Paris, on Thursday night carrying the ball for a friendly between the French and Ukrainian Under-18 teams.
His torn parachute carried off two teenage spectators, who were severely injured when they struck a metal barrier around the pitch.
One died in hospital on Friday and the other was in serious condition.
The match was cancelled, and police spokesperson Nelly Rodrigues said an inquiry had been launched. - Reuters
