What do you recommend for fibromyaligia? Is it a virus which may cause an auto-immune response? I have a 24 yr old daughter who suffers daily from fibromyalgia pain, please advice.

Hi, Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition that is characterized by pain in specific parts of the body. This pain can make everyday tasks difficult and can even cause trouble sleeping and depression. I would prefer you a site called http://www.fibromyalgiacured.com/ It has a five step plan that eliminates fatigue and soothes your muscle pain.
Take care, bye!

drugs such as gapapentins and amitryptline work (TCAs and antiepileptics) in low doses are good for nerve pain.

Hi there,

Fibromyalgia is a term used by certain physicians as a catch-all diagnosis for basic symptoms. Fibro- the term used to identify the location of the dysfunction, my- referring to muscle tissue specifically, and algia- indicates a painfull condition. This essentiall leads to a perfectly ambiguous diagnosis of "Muscle Fiber pain". In my opinion, as a medical professional is that this diagnosis is used for people who KNOW that there is something wrong with them but most doctors won't put their thinking caps on and try to figure out what is REALLY the cause. So they use the term "Fibromyalgia" as a shortcut. Insurance companies are tired of paying for expensive diagnostic tools and pressure the medical community into making a diagnosis so that they can pay for palliative treatment.
What causes Fibromyalgia? no one knows because no one has been able to discover the root cause. I personnaly reccoment that you have your doctor refer your daughter to an Endocrinologist and/or a Hematologist for further testing. There are so many obscure causes for symptoms, and medicine has divided itself so successfully that you have to keep looking for specialists until you find one that stumbles on the problem. Ask them to check her for Acute Intermittent Porphyria. That will at least give them someting to look for. It's only a beginning, but I wish you the best of luck, and I admire you for sticking with her!

I would add Ester-C(a whole food supplement-Vitamin C) to the above suggestion, as it helps with anti-inflammatory issues.

Just curious but does your wife take any whole food supplements? From past experience, I can't help but wonder if Fibromyalgia could be a form of vitamin deficiency along with several other diseases?? We are very mal-nourished as a nation. If it were me, I would recommend seeking natural remedies. If she's been ill for 12 years, my guess would be that she's all ready been given dozens of prescriptions that don't work and probably have a ton of undesireable side effects.

Seriously, check out a more holistic approach. I have to somewhat agree with the above poster. Google it, you'll be amazed what you can find out- there's lots of information out there.
