ARE YOU LOSSING FAITH ON...?

Postby TZ Somali » Sun Jul 03, 2005 9:36 pm

I must admit in the outset that it has been quite a while since I visited Somalinet forum. It’s quite amazing to see the changes that have taken place since the last time I was here. Few days ago I was browsing the forum as usual in search of interesting threads that are worthy to read, I was surprised and dismayed to see only few threads that were of nteresting nature and capable of intellectually stimulating avid forumer like me or other members in the forum.

No doubt the forum’s landscape has change significantly this is truly reflected on the threads that are generated and posted on daily basis, most of which have tribalism connotation and usually lacks intellectual dimension and are not worthy for reading or viewing at all, but nonetheless its seems junk threads that are sadistic and demeaning by nature do enjoy overwhelming interests and above all exponential hits from the members.

May be it’s because its reflects on the average psychic of Somali male and female alike, although it’s a known fact am sure other members will wish to deny in advance that they have not view, monitored or even responded to threads that spouses Qabil hate among others negative sentiments. I must admit I have set-out not to judge anybody but at least generate a discussions on this issue and urge ourselves and those members who have enormous lust to propagate their hate on the forum by constantly contaminating the forum with their messages of hate and division to at least refrain themselves from doing so and to take time to reflect on their inner health for a while.

Sure others member will argue that by urging others to refrain from expressing their thoughts and feelings that I am seeking to stifle one’s freedom of speech. Thanks to the wonder of Internet, we now enjoy the right to express ourselves without fear of been prosecuted, condemn to jail term or even sentence to death, this is the very rights that our homeland has failed to offer to us. But nevertheless when did tribalism, hate and towing the Somali warlords’ line of clan warfare became freedom of speech? Why should one’s so called ‘’freedom of speech’’ set precedent over the feelings of the majority members?, no doubt many members will choose to use freedom of speech as a pretext to spouse their hate and hang their prejudice on other members by posting threads that are provocative and very demeaning by nature. Is my belief Somalinet forum has lost its true sense and for sometime now has become a venue for marauding fiefdom that chosen to hijack this great platform and turn it into qabil battle field.

Somalinet forum should be a community portal where members stipulates and exchange views and ideas hence the term forum, the moderators should seek to advance this objective not by deleting those threads that make sense and are of intellectual or educational nature, but by ensuring those threads that seek to provoke other members through qabil and religious bashing never see the light of the day.

Thus is what is needed to create conditions that will facilitate better exchange of views and ideas that are conducive to better understanding not to mention susceptible to propagate knowledge rather than letting Somalinet forum be condemned as platform that seek to promote hatred, racism and above all deployed by ill mannered swelling flocks as a tool for canvassing tribal egos for sustaining their low self esteem malnourished mind.

Unfortunalty your sentiments are shared by me also. Although im new---it saddens me to see the 'Islamic' section neglected and not a single soul making the effort to contribute. Pity...when hate seems to override peoples interets than to share beautiful posts about our deen.Is the future of Somalians?--Okay im probably going OTT---but it surely does need to be addressed!

I share uyour concern too, you only have to look the number of threads that are posted in the general section of the forum, its unfortunate not that many people have interest on the religous issue. the religious section of the forum has been sidelined to oblivious.

Its important to note that most somali have overwhelme tendecy to seek attention all its are universal thing, but it seem to be more prominent in Somalis than other africans.

Now the Islam section of the forum has been abondend for sometime even individuals who were known to post religious threads such as the beautiful sister "proud muslimah" have been persuaded to change boat and has now settle in the general section of the forum.

This is an emerging trend, it unfortunate yet its a fact.

anywayz brother....met me in dis place>>>>>

Im a sister btw--- Smile ...'Seek attension', most definitly. Somalis are almost the most egotistically people ever, and oftenly u find their are pros and cons for such trait--but not in this instance. I think this and qabilism cohesivly are coupled and tahts wat mekes us who we are. Lol. Proud Muslimah is a gem amoung the pityful sand--im glad she has relocated herself to the Generals--but oftenly what i find is she concentrated on debating and should actaully share her wisdoms with the bro and sis. I dont want to put the sister on the pulpit like that--she is a breathe of fresh air and God Bless...honestly. I see the trend--and its a shame. Sad
