Countless Parallels Between the Aperthied and Israel!

Post by Kramer »

there are countless parallels between the South Africa of Apartheid and Israeli treatment of Arabs.
Both nations are police states.

Both deny the vote to the oppressed. Kinsley thinks that because some Arabs can vote, this is disproven, but South Africa let some nonwhites vote too.

Neither nation started with these policies, both arrived at them as political solutions agreed upon by their voters.

Palestine had their "terrorists," South Africa had the African National Congress, Pan African Congress, and other movements that utilized violence.

South Africa had Nelson Mandela, but Mandela was just a prisoner who was lionized by outsiders. Palestine has no shortage of Mandelas in Israeli prisons, but the world does not take up their cause because we haven't bothered to learn any of their names.

Both nations used "papers" to oppress their minorities.

South Africa put blacks into homelands; Israel restricts them to living in equally squalid refugee camps.

Both nations employed "forced removals" of their oppressed groups.

SA had the Sharpeville Massacre; Israel bombs and bulldozes refugee camps.

Yassir Arafat was, as Kinsley points out, no Nelson Mandela. Yassir Arafat, however, was very much like Oliver Tambo.

Steve Biko was a martyr. Can you name one single Palestinian who has died in an Israeli prison? Again the world ignores what it chooses to ignore. We see pictures of dead Palestinian children, but can you name any of them?

Both nations have been sanctioned by the UN.

Both nations have developed advanced military technology, and in fact worked with each other on numerous projects over the years.

Israel and South Africa were politically allied until Apartheid ended.

South Africa was to Africa as Israel is the Middle East. Put another way, even a child could tell you why both nations were "different" from the others.

South Africa routinely bombed and raided the frontline states just as Israel has done with their neighbors.

South Africa used landmines, Israel uses cluster bombs.

Both nations are sexually intolerant: SA regarding mixed race relations, Israel is proving increasingly homophobic. [It's not the sex, it's the religious and cultural conservatism influencing government.]

Both nations steadily became more authoritarian over time.

Both nations lost a prime minister to assassination (by a member of the "white" community).

Both nations censor the news and refuse to comment on national security.

Both oppressed populations murdered their own for collaboration. Necklacing was as immoral as suicide bombing

Both of them Come to the occupied land from Europe!
