400 families dude..

thats the approximate figure and do you know how they survived this long and grew to prosper?
They made sure the millitary elite married into those families.

Imagine you are a young officer, with no money but allot of power under a millitary government and
you have a dozen rich families throwing thier daughters at you..

Same thing happened in Egypt.
the Revolutionary officers at least the young ones quickly married into the arstocracy..

Gurey,

Ever watched Mel Brook's HISTORY OF THE WORLD comedy.

I love when he is King Louis of France and says, "Its good to be the king."

Its most unfortunate that such feudal systems exist in these modern times.

Very unfortunate...

its facinating how some of them still live,
i was invited to the estate of one just outside karachi.. he wasnt that rich i dont even think he had any more than a couple of million in cash but he did have land, and lots of servants.

it was surreal trying to hunt some deer, foloowed by 2 servants and meeting some police men who were friends of myhost and bieng invited to smoke charess with them....
(i later found out that charess was weed)

that was back in 2006..

now im afraid of going back to the US..
My passport reads like an al-qaeda itenary...
Pakistan,Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia

Gurey,

Are u an Aussie national ? I would not encourage you to visit man. They are cracking down on both US and Foreign nationals with Muslim names.

I never understood why Americans need to apply for visas to visit Australia but Australians are not required to apply for visas prior to arrival.

Gurey,

For all intents and purposes, you too could live like that in Somalia.
