Just use it for normal purposes, do assignments on it and carry it with me to places like the library and MacBook air is really light.Alphanumeric wrote:What is it that you want to do with the pc?

Re: MacBook Air or MacBook Pro?
I don't get the hype with Apple. It's severely overpriced, imo. If you simply want something light, you can find lighter laptops. But considering the decreasing lifespan of laptops, I guess Apple's warranties are worth the few hundred bucks in the long run.
When was the last time you used a CD? I can't remember for myself. If it's that important, might consider getting an external drive. Pro and Air are the same price at 13", but the Pro obviously has slightly better speeds. But I don't think there will be any noticeable difference for the average user (notes, torrents, movies, music, etc). The major difference comes up with the 15" Pro, that carry NVIDIA graphics cards, which make up for the $600 increase (slightly). A 13" Air has a better resolution than the 13" Pro. Go for the Air.
If it had to be an Apple and I were in your shoes, I'd go for the 11" Air with minimum specs. But I'm just cheap.
If you ignore all of this and still go for the Pro, opt for the SSD.

Don't confine yourself to Apple, there are better laptops out there, cheaper too.

From my experience, HP is terrible.
