Once in downtown Toronto. The sad thing was I used to see the brother in the masjid two or three years earlier. In his mid 20s. The poor guy went crazy. May Allah cure him, amiin.

In the west: Yes, which usually pisses me off because they're mostly crackheads. I don't give them shit, they can die for all I care.
In Somalia: Yes, a lot, some pretty heart wrenching shit. I give them whatever I can spare.

I've seen a couple...my heart doesn't bleed for them cuz they're Somali, it bleeds for them cuz they're homeless and reduced to begging (for whatever reason)

Re: Have you ever meet a homeless Somali begging ?
Only Somalis I came across begging were in Addis Ababa during Ramadan time few years ago. They were said to be "karanle" and used to beg in front of the Mosque I used to got to before and after prayer times. They were semi-qooti reer miyi people from Ogadenia and Oromia regions and I was told they are not poor people as they own a lot of livestock but come there to make money that way. As for homeless Somali people there was a guy in where I live in who was a normal guy when he first arrived in my city but because of a really bad alcohol problem he ended up on the streets. This reer waqooyi single mom from his clan took him and helped him up get back on his feet but she did not stop there as she ended up marrying him.
But dude disappeared on her and ended back in the streets within few months. And what is more sad is she ended up pregnant for the homeless alcoholic dude.
