Sumu, you have forgotten the Garre who speak their own language in Lower Shabelle, the Dabare in Bay region who have their distinct language, the Barawanis who speak a dialect of Swahili, and the Gosha people who speak their own mother language - a dialect that is related to Swahili that is spoken in Tanzania and Mozambique.

Don't forget the Yibir (Anaas) and Gabooye have had their own languages that was distinct from the mainstream Somali language.

Of course, different languages come with different ethnic groups.

Great observation

P.S. One correction though, Hassan Sheekh Mohamud speaks a mainstream Somali language with Southern Galguduud / Middle Shabbelle region dialect!

Right on, we as diverse people as any other african country. The only thing we have in common is the deen. As an ethnic Dal udugian from the north east, I never understood folks who say somali waa haal umaad.

Dir/Isaaq/Darod/Hawiye/Raxanweyn are the same ethnic group (80% of Somalia)

All the other clans or tribes are not Somali.

The mainstream big clans (mentioned previously) have the same origins (East Cushitic ancestry).

Bantus don't have the same origins as the rest of Somalis. They come from West-Central Africa.
Benadiris don't have the same origins as the rest of Somalis. They come from the Middle East.

Majority of Somalis have the same origin, except for those two communities.

Somalia and SL and PL are one of the last remaining countries that aren't trying to push this multiculturalism nonsense. Truly one of the last few 'free' countries.

Gegi,

Only the Zigula among the Gosha speak Zigua, known in Somalia as Mushunguli. The larger portion of the Gosha people, the Shanbara, speak Maay, which they adopted from the Reewin peoples. Maay is a Cushitic language, not related to any of the Bantu languages.

Somalis have only 3 ethnic groups. We have more languages and Dialects. Kikuyu, Somali Bantu and Kamba are the same ethnic but different languages. Somalis, Oromo, Tigree, Galla are the same ethnic.

Cushitic- Those skinny Somalis with long forehead and Semi-silky hair like Xassan sheikh.
Bantus- Those with negroic features like Caymooy, Dalha and Aways Khamiis.
Semitic-Those with Arabic/middle eastern/european features like Jeylani Ikar, Axmad Naji etc.

Couldn't have said it better. Multiculturalism is a myth.
