Vivacious, I am sure you heard of "
If you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it, and you will even come to believe it yourself." This is what these people are doing. They are haters but want to broaden their base, so what they do is to lie about Islam and the Muslims. Some of the false narrative they constantly repeat are: (1) Islam calls for the killing of all disbelievers; (2) Muslims in America are the enemy within; (3) They quote what the well-known Islamophobe demagogues like Frank Gaffner said about Islam. This is a term that he came up which the rest of the haters quote repeatedly: "'
civilization jihad,
a form of warfare that employs manipulative financial techniques, lawfare, infiltration of our civil institutions and government and insidious information dominance." When Donald Trump states no Muslim should be allowed to come to America, his mentor and main source information comes from Frank Gaffner.
This is what the Southern Poverty Law Center said about Frank Gaffner: "Once a respectable Washington insider,
Frank Gaffney Jr. is now one of America’s most notorious Islamophobes.
Gripped by paranoid fantasies about Muslims destroying the West from within, Gaffney believes that “
creeping Shariah,”
or Islamic religious law, is a dire threat to American democracy. He favors congressional hearings to
unmask subversive Muslim conspiracies, and was even banned from far-right Conservative Political Action Conference events after
accusing two of its organizers of being agents of the Muslim Brotherhood. "
My take on this we need to have enough Muslims who are present in all media sites, including social media, and refute these false charges. We may not change the minds of the haters but we can certainly refuse them to have a platform where it is only them who are discussing Islam. We can correct their misquotes on Islam or point readers to Muslim sites that explain the verses of Holly Quran that they are misquoting and the context in which these verses should be understood.
What do you think?
