I have eaten jaad in jaahiliyah and there's no denying that it affects you little bit, although it's mild. I remember how one time I was working three days in a row without sleeping only with power of jaad.
If it's not a drug then what it is?

Khat is obviously Makruh, but that's not the point.
The coice of whether or not to engage in haram activities is an individual one, not a governing one. It is between the individual and his God. It is not for Aweys, or Indhacade or Shit for brains Aiman to decide. They have no say, none, zero, on what I do or you do. They continuously make up the rules as they go along, all under the guise of Shari'a. There is no hard rule on Khat, so they make on up and claim it's shari'a......when there is no reference to Khat at all.
Khat is a stimulant, like black tea or coffee, but considerably stronger. I don't personally approve of it, and don't think it is a great thing for Somali society, but ultimately it is up to each individual to decide whether to imbibe or not. Trying to remove Khat from Somali society is like trying to remove alcohol from American society. It is futile and counter productive.
FREEDOM!!!!!
