The odds are high for him to win in this heavily Democratic district, but for brother AbdulMalik Askar it is about principles over supporting the Party of Sodom and Gomorrah aka Democratic Party.Askar is working on his doctorate in education leadership at St. Mary's University of Minnesota. He said education is his biggest priority. He agrees with some in his party on several social and fiscal conservative stances — he says marriage should be between a man and a woman and is against abortion.
Personally, I wish this brother run as an independent or some other third party. It is understandable not to be part of the Party of Sodom and Gomorrah, but it is also difficult to be part of an Islamophobe party aka Republicans. But It i also understandable that other third parties don't have resources to mount a campaign, so it seems, to this brother's calculation, he thinks that Muslims should not leave the Republican Party out, since it is a major political party that has a huge clout in America, and just like the Jews, Muslims needs to play both sides.
I hope this brother wins.
