this key (with no value any longer), when sold for $18 million has been given a value, and that value is associated with islam - a clear shirk in islam.

Wahaab hated the Ottomans, their control of the Arabian peninsula and the holy sites. It was his ideology (the Ottomans were Mushrik) that permited the establishment of the "Islamic Kingdom" of Saudi Arabia, at the expense of the Ottoman Sultanate. There was no Saudi kingdom during his lifetime, but his descendants continued the tradition and are still on the Saudi payroll. During the transition, the British and the Saudis were his family's allies against the Ottomans.

Wahaab's theology is in clear contrast to that of Shayk Jilani and Aweys Al-Baraawe, both of whom were burried in prayer halls by their followers, who made no connection at all of the practice to shirk. A Twelth Century key to the Kaaba has no relevence to the prophet or Islam. Is the Key going to protect you on Yaum al Qiyyamah? It is Allah and your Salah, Saum, Dhikr etc. that will protect you.

We Muslims believe that God is the only ruler. A Caliph is a political leader, head of state. A Caliph does not and cannot control the Islamic faith, the faith belongs to God. For example, an Imam is the overseer of a mosque, but the mosque belongs to God. I hope that makes sense.
