Re: The key to the Kaaba has sold at auction in London
who sold the key? was it the under-cover sufis, the salafis?
this key (with no value any longer), when sold for $18 million has been given a value, and that value is associated with islam - a clear shirk in islam.

Wahaab hated the Ottomans, their control of the Arabian peninsula and the holy sites. It was his ideology (the Ottomans were Mushrik) that permited the establishment of the "Islamic Kingdom" of Saudi Arabia, at the expense of the Ottoman Sultanate. There was no Saudi kingdom during his lifetime, but his descendants continued the tradition and are still on the Saudi payroll. During the transition, the British and the Saudis were his family's allies against the Ottomans.
Wahaab's theology is in clear contrast to that of Shayk Jilani and Aweys Al-Baraawe, both of whom were burried in prayer halls by their followers, who made no connection at all of the practice to shirk. Including the Prophet, it was a clear early Muslim tradition to bury rel igious figures within the structures with which they were most closely associated. There is no necessary connection here to associating them with God in the matter of prayer.

It's an enteresting item.
One was made for each of 56 Caliphs. It was the moral equivalent of a scepter in that it signified control of the Ka'bah, and hence of the faith.
Iron.
Not many are available in the West. Very collectable.

Still Historical artificats should not be destoyed. I dont understand what benefit would destroying the house the prophet pbuh was born in would bring. You dont destroy and forget history but u learn from it.

Are you an athiest Grant? I'm just curious--"control of the Ka'bah, and hence of the faith"??. We muslims believe that only God controls/governs our faith.

Surria,
Deist.
Pardon me if I am mistaken, but I always understood a Kaliph has temporal control, in this case over the holy sites. The key symbolized this.

Grant is talking about the Kaba's caretakers, no one ruling out Gods control over all matter. Kalaay horta why are you Wahaabis so quick to throw God into the mix when it is obvious no one is questions his significance?surria wrote:Are you an athiest Grant? Re: The key to the Kaaba has sold at auction in London
We Muslims believe that God is the only ruler. A Caliph is a political leader, head of state. A Caliph does not and cannot control the Islamic faith, the faith belongs to God. For example, an Imam is the overseer of a mosque, but the mosque belongs to God. I hope that makes sense.

I hope you are not referring to me.
