Ofcourse they dont concern me. But what I also said was it's a shame that those diaspora wont return home. The one's u are talking about have and are helping the country prosper. Siilanyo grew up in the uk went to uni, then worked for siad Barre and after 91 returned back to his country, I dont see anything wrong with that. people like siilanyo are the minority, most people grew up within sl have important govt position's like hirsi gaab.

Everyone left Ottawa for Alberta. I would say only 5K are left. My original 15K figure is inflated. I get surprised when I see Somalis in the streets. Times have changed. No one lives there anymore. Its turning more white. There's no jobs there for immigrants. Only bilingual francophones from across the river. Somalis and Ottawa don't go together. Abdi J, first of all, it is a difficult task to know the number of "somalis"; Statistically, Somalis in Norway include; naturalised or citizens of Somalia. In some cases, children born to at least one somali parent are also defined as somalis.

At the end of 2012, Norway had approximately 29 500 Somalis. Out of these, just over 2 000 Somalis were domiciled in "Oslo"; the municipalities bordering Oslo (surburbs) had another 2000+ while 3000+ are are theoretically in the greater Oslo area.

The Number of Somali in Minnesota in 2000 11.151 (US census, 2000). AMC survey 2008 showed 26.895 but refuted by the MN geographic centre which estimates them at 45 000.
2012 estimates range from 60-100 000

Lillahiya, this isn't the year 2000. 80% of Ottawa Somalis have fled the city due to lack of employment. Only francophones are employed there. You need to speak French to work in a non minimum wage job. Only the Djiboutians stayed and even then a lot of Djiboutians also fled. I know a Somali who leaves every week, both educated and non educated. I am sure half of your friends have fled too. There is no way there are 15K. I am sure there are no more than 200 Somali families in Ottawa today. It used to be 30,000 Somalis. Neighborhoods that were the once dominated by Somalis are now taken over by West Africans and Haitians. The airports departure gates are filled with Somalis leaving for Toronto and Alberta. You're lucky to see a Somali these days
