In the beginning of the Liberation war my coward sub-tribe was neutral and refused to support the Liberation that is until the Dervish leader made them understand how important the war was, he did not only liberate my lands more important he liberated their minds and for that we will always be thankful  :som:

Tanker,

Good reply. Did this liberation come in 1904, 1905, 1920 or 1960? :P

KKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

He stole few camels and sheep from habar yonis and HY karbashed him and his dhulo servants. The only reason why dhulo support him is because they though he would give them (and other harti) the upper hand in their weak struggle with HY.

I know you are a troll but I will still answer you....

Yes he killed many darood but those people he killed were traitors or cowards who refused to support liberation and were agents of colonialism I support him 100 % he did what was necessary, just like how the Vietnamese Liberation movement killed all traitors on their road towards full liberation.

Lying is good until you start to believe your own lies. History made from 1969-1988 is as real as marvel comic books

But the people killed were just simple nomads who wanted to live in peace.

It was a 25 year Liberation war where many areas were liberated while at the end they could not defeat the British planes but more importantly they had given damage to british colonialism, liberated the mind of the population, showed the world that we refused to be colonized on our own lands, the 1960 independence was the culmination of the Dervish struggle, SYL had the Dervish as role models.

Anyone who refuses to support the liberation of the Somali people has no right to our beloved flag.

Did you forget that the vast majority of those killed by the Dervishes were Somali and that most of the British forces were Somali?

Suggest you read this: http://britishsomaliland.blogspot.com/2 ... camel.html
The numbers are not large.

Even his own Ogaden clan did little to support MAH. The air campaign that finally ended his career in the Nugaal did little damage to his capital at Taleex and has been called the cheapest war in history. In the Dervish wars, he functioned as an early warlord. As a national hero, the man was a no-show. He fought other Somalis more than the British.
Grant,

What about Sheik Hassan Barsane ?

AW,

Barsane is a much better candidate than MAH. He fought Ethiopians and Italians, not his own people.

It is my understanding, which I can't seem to document at the moment, that both Barsane and MAH started out as Sheiks of the Salihiya Tariqa, but that MAH was expelled for "incorrect use of the religion". (?)

Sadly, so many Somali leaders lost or were killed. Barsane died in an Italian prison cell:

I am also partial to Sheik Uweys al Barawe of the Qadiriyya Tariqa .
