Growing up we were taught that Allah will torment the Homosexuals in the worst way possible. In the depth of Hell (nothing further) is a place for exclusively prepared for the Homosexuals. You cannot be a Muslim and Homosexual at the same time. In fact, a Pagan worshipping Idols is far better than a Homosexual that "believes in one God". It's disgusting and very sad that in this time and age you'll see many Muslims that actually think you can be a Muslim and a Homosexual simultaneously. Allah destroyed an entire nation for simply being homosexuals, only their Prophet Lut was saved along with his two daughters.

There is big difference between a practicing gay person (i.e. having sexual relationship with the same gender) from a person who is attracted to the same gender but yet do not participate homosexual activities.

Islam recognise that a person can have sexual desires for the same gender and no desire for the opposite gender - but it is a test - something that they need to overcome - a struggle.

Now - no one knows if the man the OP mentioned is practicing homosexual and even if he was - there is nothing in Islam which forbids helping him. He is still Allah's creation.

He is still Allah's creation, but according to the Shariah, if Allah's creation (a man or a woman) is guilty of homosexuality, then they are to be put to death. Here is a authentic ahadith incase you object to what I said;

al-Tirmidhi (1456), Abu Dawood (4462)and Ibn Maajah (2561) narrated that Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever you find doing the action of the people of Loot, execute the one who does it and the one to whom it is done.”. Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi.

Clearly, homosexuality is a sin that is so severe that Allah and his Messenger decreed the punishment of death upon those that are found guilty of it. So, clearly, you cannot be a Muslim and a Homosexual at the same time, it's an oxymoron.
