Republicans are racist..they hate none whites, jews, muslims and gays. Honestly I'd rather have a nice tolerant gay person as neighbor than a flag worshiping, gun fanatic..regressive republican. Thank god most of them live outside of the cities.

back to your question; there is qa;ida in fiqh called ; ليس بعد الكفر ذنب. means in my practice, people who do not believe islam not expected to obey it. they didnt sign for it by islam. so how you expect them to obey your value and islamic "shari'a law, as you put" to follow your values?
somalis, mix between their disgust about the act of homesexuality and religion. kufur worse than zina or homosexuality. if you dont mind their kufr, why you obligated to hate their sexuality?
