Why would M S Barre order a "massacre" in 1979 for no apparant reason since the SSDF was not formed at that time nor did it possess any threat? Please explain!

If this so-called "massacre" happend, why were there no rallies staged by the Majeerteens, why were there no Majeerteen mass-defection from the army? Why was it so easy to dismember the SSDF.

Why didn't SSDF state this 'massacre' when it outlined its objectives and the reason behind the forming of the group.

The massacre of Mareexaans in 1982 was documented and Somalis held rallies against these atrocities (see news report)

Rallies held during Siyaad's time were not voluntary except for the Ethiopia war.

Plus, the rallies were not held for Marexan but against the Ethiopian incursion.

Cilmiile->Majeetteen were killing 2 birds with one stone: inflicting pain and punishment on the Isaaqs who had Majeerteen bloods on their hands while at the same time inflaming, by their actions, the Isaaq anti-government passions. Machievellian, and so tragic.


It just doesn't make sense here cilmiile . Why and how can someone{Majeerten} blame the Isaaqs{ Ina Yoonis} then subsequently punish them { via Morgan } AND hope to channel Isaaqs anger towards the Mareexan? That cannot be a formulated plan , or it's just suicidal.

even if that was the case, it could be because rallies for the mareexaan would be acceptable where as rallies for other somalis would mean anti-kacaan and considered criminal:lol: . People would most likely be put in prisons and turtured for showing any signs of being anti siyaad/mareexaan regime.

Cilmiile is half right here. Ofcourse Isaaqs had nothing to do with the massacre of innocent majeerteens, however he is on the money by saying majeerteen killed alot of innocent Isaaqs in order to inflame their anti-goverment paasions.

Madmadoobe, remember that the 70's and early 80's was considered a golden age for Somalia because of its rapid modernization.

The people rallied because Ethiopia invaded Somalia for the first time in history with the help of the SSDF and massacred Somali citizens (i.e. Mareexaans). Why wouldn't they rally?

And for your information, nothing has detered Somalis from ralling. Even during the SNM wars in the late 80's, some students rallied against the actions of Morgan.
