Sheikh Nasser receives Zenawi in Kuwait City
KUWAIT CITY: The prime ministers of Kuwait and Ethiopia yesterday called for the unity and independence of war-torn Somalia to be protected and for an end to the violence, a Kuwaiti official said.
The official Kuna news agency quoted an official source as saying the two leaders emphasised the need to resolve disputes between African nations through peaceful means.
The call was issued after a round of talks between visiting Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Nasser Mohamed al-Ahmed al-Sabah.
Kuwait City and Addis Ababa also agreed to boost bilateral co-operation in fighting terrorism, the official said.
Zenawi, who arrived in Kuwait earlier yesterday on a two-day visit, said he would sign three agreements in tourism and culture, and his talks would focus on boosting economic ties. - AFP
