The threat isn't Somalia per se; it's Islamists. Left not contained or neutralized at the early stages of inception, an Islamist movement or government could quickly transform to unstoppable formidable force that seriously threatens the United States or Western civilization. The United States is paranoid of anything that relates to Islamists or Islamist movements. It fears the return of the Islamic Empire or another millennium of Islamic dominance.
