Rushdie knighthood

Postby surria » Mon Jun 18, 2007 1:03 pm

What is the big deal here, why are the Muslim world up in arms over the nighthood of solomon rushdie? I mean the gay elton john is a knight these days, so knighting this idiot is nothing really, it does not add any more value or legitimacy to him.

Horta it's funny you brought that up , coz the Brits did use Somali troops in Burma and elsewhere . I couldn't find anything substantial on thieir history and it seems that beyond the white officers they would NOT reward thie local troops. To this day I have only found 1 kenyan native with the Victoria Cross.
The French the other hand used the Bataillon Somali in some of the fiercest battles in WW1 and WW2 , and that unit before being dismantled was one of the MOST decorated unit in all of France's military.
