Rushdie Seethfest Spreads

Postby Poetess » Wed Jun 20, 2007 11:31 am

Rage at Britain for knighting Salman Rushdie is spreading and growing in the Islamic world, as the leaders of the Religion of Tolerance continue fanning the flames of hate. They’re working themselves up apparently for a nice big explosion on Friday, the day of prayer. Allah be praised.

ISLAMABAD (AFP) - Outrage mounted in the Muslim world Wednesday over Britain’s knighthood for novelist Salman Rushdie, with protests spreading to Malaysia for the first time and fresh demonstrations in Pakistan.

In Kuala Lumpur about 20 members of Malaysia’s main Islamic opposition, the Pan-Malaysia Islamic party, shouted “Go to hell Britain! Go to hell Rushdie!” outside the British High Commission. They handed a one-page memorandum to the British envoy during the rare half-hour demonstration, which was watched by police with riot shields and helmets. The police contingent was about as large as the protest.

“In the name of peace and mutual respect, we demand that the award be withdrawn, and the British government distance itself from a provocateur like Salman Rushdie,” party president Abdul Hadi Awang said in a statement.

In Pakistan hundreds of people protested in the central city of Multan, where an effigy of Rushdie and a British flag were burned for the third day running. Effigies of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II were burned earlier this week. Traders, religious students and members of a religious party held separate demonstrations.

“Britain has tried to ignite the controversy of the cursed author Rushdie after more than a decade,” said Akhtar Butt, the leader of a local traders’ body. “It’s a deliberate attempt to provoke Muslims.”

The Muslim World needs to get its priorities in order, instead of directing impotent rage all over the place. Why not direct your rage at those stooges who call themselves your leaders instead of a useless nobody bowing to the Queen in stormy London?

That being said, what did the British seek to do bestowing such an honour on a provacetuer and gutter-tripe like Rushdie?

Quite apart from the prerogative of the British Crown to Knight whomsoever it deems worthy for services rendered, it seems an elementary principle that the suborning for pay of a literary figure is contemptible.

No reader of his literature myself, and doubtless too the mullahs, Rushdie's work is often set as classroom text in Britian. It seems Muslims will never miss an opportunity to remind the community of the civilized world just what moronic imbeciles they are.

From the the Miss World affair and the cartoon Jihad, to the Pope's comments and the Salmon Rushdie business, scarcely does a month lapse when Allah's boys haven't raised a great hoo-ha and hullabaloo. An illiterate people beneath contempt.

I'm comforted by the fact that if the Queen will knight Mick Jagger, then pretty much anyone can be also. Not suprised gutter-tripe are queing to be knighted as well.

True. When the cartoon incident happened, Muslim protesters wasted no time protesting and even burning embassies, but they are idle when it comes to protesting the dictators that have kept them back for decades.

Dennmark is the biggest supplier of dairy products to the Middle East (specially in the Gulf states), rather than throwing stones at European embassies, Muslim consumers should boycott these products in hopes of creating a rippling effect in Europe.

For a fellow the recipient of many an award, before he was catapulted into the limelight thanks to hordes of illiterate thugs chanting death to the living, and whose works are set texts for highschool classrooms, somehow vituperation like gutter-tripe just doesn't stick.

The literary world would be wholly irrelevant you'd have thought to people who live in the shanty towns and dustbowels of much of the Islamic world. But who cares about from where you're going to get next week's income to feed your twelve children when the Death-to-the-Little-Satan party is in full swing?

To my Muslim brothers and sisters, wherever you're, boycott all British products, and don't consider vacation or education in the UK.

There was a boycott being actively promoted during the early days of the cartoon protests. Do you mean to tell me that the Gulf is back to buying Danish milk? Shocked

The corrupt and evil leaders of the Gulf, supported by your country, are based on secularism. They violate many if not most of the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah. However, many Muslims in the Gulf (minus the sellouts) still boycott Danish products. As for me, I have boycotted Danish products for good, and the same with British products.

It is on a smaller scale than as reported previously. Many businessmen still continue to import Danish products, obviously the public is buying.

Egypt has a huge dairy industry and is the 2nd biggest exporter of dairy to the Gulf states.

Iyaa!

Walee these mullahs are in the business of stirring up controversy. Why does it concern a goat-faced camel focker of Malaysia who the Queen knights?

The chief problem walaalayal waa this wahhabi-imported ideology, paid for by the death-cults of Saudi Arabia. Let them focus on their own internal politics rather than sowing the seeds of animosity in the western hemisphere who've opened their doors to dadka Muslim.

Thanks to this alien wahhabi cult, Muslims are suspect and their religion a source of ridicule in places which were bastions of tolerance before it gate crashed the party. Death to the Wahhabis!

Waawareey!

The funny thing is, he is a lousy writer. I hate his work. He's a goof too. Looks like a cartoon character. I am not sure what prompted the Brits to "knight" this goof ball, esspeciually knowing the reaction it was going to get.

Having said that, it does reinforce the obvious: That Muslims would not comprehend the notion of free speech or the concept of rule of law if it hit them with a Mack Truck. As if an Iranian has the right to issue a legal decree on a Brit living in Britain for something he wrote.......... I don't like the writings of Ahmedinijad, so I guess I can issue a fatwah to have him killed........which will probably be as successful as the Fatwah Khomenei issued when he turned Rushdie's book "Satanic Verses" into a best seller.

As if you Americans comprehend free speech as well, amendment or no amendment. What of the Federal 'Free Speech Zones'? Or the absolute ban on questioning any aspect of the Holocaust in Europe, and their attempts to replicate this in America today.
