More Zionist Propaganda?

Postby Grant » Wed Jun 27, 2007 10:17 am

Is this being reported elsewhere?

"DEBKAfile reports: At least three Iranians killed in petrol rationing riots
underlining the oil-rich country’s fuel vulnerability

June 27, 2007, 2:15 PM (GMT+02:00)

At only two hours notice, Tehran Tuesday, June 26, announced the rationing of
gas for Iran’s private motorists to 100 liters per month as a war measure. This
led to riots and the torching of gas stations across the country, including the
capital.
For lack of refining capacity, the oil-rich country imports 40% of the gasoline
and oil products consumed by its population of 70 million. This dependence
constitutes one of Iran’s military vulnerabilities, curtailing its ability to
endure a long war. Another is its elderly air force, consisting mainly of
American warplanes of 1970s vintage.
The Islamic Republic has resorted to three emergency measures to alleviate its
fuel shortage and boost allocations to the military in case of war:
1. Indiscriminate petrol rationing for all types of private vehicle and taxis in
every parts of the country regardless of higher consumption in the cities
compared with rural areas.
2. Instructions to Iran’s agents in the Gulf region to buy up as much fuel as
they can lay their hands on, upping the price for fast delivery.
3. To instill popular confidence in the Islamic regime’s competence to run the
country, various energy products including gas are heavily subsidized. A liter
of gasoline costing 50 cents to buy is sold for 5 cents. Iran spends more than
$8 billion a year on imported refined fuel products. According to DEBKAfile’s
sources, $2.5 billion worth of fuel products were purchased in the last three
months alone. Rationing civilian consumption was calculated to release funds for
laying in military supplies.
The Tehran government failed to take into account that the rationing decree would spark violent anti-government protests –
in actual fact demonstrations against government sleaze.
DEBKAfile discloses why Iran never built refineries at home:
The Islamic regime decided to allocate national funds for establishing oil
refineries in Malaysia and Indonesia to enable its top officials to skim
millions of dollars off those budgets and funnel them into their personal
businesses and private bank accounts in the Far East. Like many a corrupt
regime, its leaders fondly believed the people knew nothing of their abuses. The
violent protests which the fuel rationing decree sparked across the country told
them the population had not been fooled."

nothing new here grant.

where you surprised?

the details of this are well known by everyone here in the middle east.

explains why aall the top Mullahs are multi -millionairs.

This is why ahmedinejad is so popular becuase he is a regular guy and uncorrupt,
unfortunatley he has zero power, and is only a way to let the Iranian people let off steam and pretend they are in a democracy.

Iran is still far mor politically advanced and democratic than any other middle eastern country.

Only Turkey is a little ahead in democratic development, only a little.

Gurey,

Even having the example of the Latin Church and knowing that power corrupts, I am still amazed by this theocracy. This kind of manipulation gives new meaning to the term munafiiq. Shocked

Big B,

I believe the documented details of the Holocaust and the truth of the historical event. I do not believe those events have been exaggerrated for the benefit of any Zionist argument.

Keeping in mind that the Jews had already bought up large blocks of Palestinian land by 1947, I think the issue was best settled long ago along the lines of the 1947 UN partition plan. At this point I cannot support the Hamas position that the Jews have no right to any of the land, but I do support a Palestinian state on some of the land, with equitable access to water and other resources. I don't really see that that makes me a Zionist.

Unfortunately for all of us Grant, the overwhelming majority of Israeli settlers and Israeli lawmakers are against any such idea, and will call you an anti-semite for insisting its a fair deal.

Corruption is relative.

for example the elite shia clergy and the bazari alliance
when you observe them by themsleves, they may appear corrupt and hypocritical.

when placed alongside the House of Saud,

they appear to be an example of piety, responsibily and trustworthiness.

Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

but grant has no problems with the house of Saud,

for they have not verbally taunted and threatened poor Isreal,
and are good obedient pets of the West.

Gurey,

Actually I am becoming troubled by the hereditary alliance between the House of Saud and the House of Wahhaab.

You are thinking about my government's policy.

Instinctively you know you're out of business, and your days as a key regional player over, when waiting to be tapped is energy-rich fields under which rivers of petroleum flow, the third largest in the world, yet for reasons owing to ineptitude, backwardness and idiocy, you find yourself resorting to North-Korean style rationing. Allah be praised.

Schadenfruede is not an appealing emotion, but this whole drama is playing out better than anything cooked up by the scheming Bush-Halliburton, Zionist-Crusader war-mongers.
