Ofcourse Jubbada..Its not even close. The river actually starts in Eithiopia but really picks up the closer you get to the Indian ocean, thus explaining the lush vegitation, in that region.

The Juba is almost twice as big. In most years the Shebelle dries up before it reaches the Juba at Jilib. In a really wet year they do meet. The Juba runs most of the year, but in some years dries up to just pools by the end of Jilaal. I have walked across the Juba dry and have also heard stories of floods several feet deep for miles across the bush.

The lush growth in the middle and lower Juubba is from the heavier rain that area gets. Except in a flood, the bush does not get irrigated from the river.

Shabelle is Larger and Longer --after Beledweyn -it goes through arid desert and joins Jubba when it rains!
while Jubba runs through Luuq, all the way to Kismayo Ocean!
