Afcad is well known. Most people know his landmark visit to the Dhulbahante Garaad where he received 1000 horses from the Garaad as a gift.

Cartan boss dont exaggerate. He came to replace his famous horse that succumbed and was told to go the Dhulbahante to replace it. Only in Nugaal can you find a comparable horse he was told. He created many poems among the Dhulbahante before and after he found his horse. A superb one to judge by his poems in tribute.

You can find the poems on Golkhatumo.com audio (narratives section

But poor quality audio. I however posted the poems here a while back.

1000 horses kulaha. This man must be high on something.

Why was Afcad called Afcad? Because he was clear as crystal in his speech or did he suffer from crackhead lips? Laughing

1000 horses is a lot but Dhuloos could supply that many easily. But had to be for good reason.

There was an Ogaadeen man who went to ask for the hand of a beautiful lady from a Great leader of a great clan. The Father of the girl wanted to reject the proposal but had respect for the people of the proposing man. So to save face he put a seemingly impossible obstacle in his path. He demanded 100 horses as Yarad dowry. No one man can gather together that many horses among most Somali tribes. The man however was told that this is a challenge and you dare not lose. Therefore you must go to the Dhulbahante in Nugaal and put your case in front of them, they might help you. He took many camels to exchange for horses and went to Nugaal and the Maxamuud Garaad. He was welcomed and they sympathised with his dillema and gave him 100 horses for much less than their true equivalent cost in Camels.

And he got his girl.
