Saxiib, I have done so many favors in my lifetime that many people want to pay me back.
I went to yet another wedding this past weekend that stunned me.

It was the wedding of some latino neighbors of mine. There were about 200 people who showed up. The music was good and so was the food.

I was stunned at the contrast with Somali weddings which are financially devastating to the couple.
AbdiWahad252,

We've been doing that for a long long time. Its tradition in our culture to give cash at Latino weddings.

Matter of fact, $8000 is nothing. I've been to Latino weddings with 600+ people that generated in excess of $70,000. By the time, the wedding is over, the bride and groom have more than enough of a downpayment for a new home. Cool

AbdiWahab,

Well that's the purpose of giving cash at the weddings. Its supposed to be a fresh start for the bride and groom. Its sad that in your culture, people don't give at least a gift or two to newly weds. Sad

Also,

In our culture, the bride and grooms' parents pay for the wedding. That includes, the Photographer, Flowers, DJ, Banquet Hall, Food, entertainment, Drinks, security.. I mean EVERYTHING. Cool

Thanks mayne. It doesn't come cheap but I think it should be something that you, your friends and family enjoy.

A yr and a half ago, this Italian guy that works for the same company I work for got engaged to this Latino chick from Argentina. An invitation was mailed to my home, and I went to the wedding several months later.

Mayne,

Tha wedding had like about 800 people. The reception was held at a massive Banquet Hall in Pasadena with Glass fountains and Crystal artwork everywhere. There was an 8 course meal, a sweet table, and open alcohol filled bar, along with performers that arrived from South America. I knew it cost a fortune, but damn it was good wedding.

After the wedding, all the 800 guests received a thank you gift from the bride and groom and they went on their honeymoon. Suffice to say, that is now all up in smoke as the couple have now filed for divorce. That's really tough considering the amount ofmoney spent, and also tha fact that she's now pregnant with his child. Sad

Baller is one addoon with no culture but likes to claim other ppl's cultures.

A/Wahab,

If you can't cough enough dough to maintain your wedding and the future of your family, then you don't even need to get married. Instead of begging (It's basically begging) for others to build your family, count on what you have and not what that specific begging session would generate. In other words, you are counting what is in someone else's pockets, how low is that? That is not for a noble Somali, it's for cheap undignified ppl who will resort to the lowest of low to get a headstart.

Thank you for proving how much of a focking numbskull you are. Shocked Nobody is begging you focking asswipe. Its part of our tradition to give cash in a wedding. There's nothing cheap and undignified in giving cash to someone who's getting married, but you're right. You're a poor brain dead focking somali who's too poor to even buy paper to wipe ya stank a$$. Laughing Laughing

I hope you follow your own advice and get off section 8 Shocked
