Tuulo Barwaqo, the picture with the Palm trees on the river, is near Garbaharey (Gedo). Considering all of Gedo's development happened post civil war, this is one of the new cities that are springing up. My only surviving aunt from my Pops side lives there now, and Inshallah I'll visit next summer after her house is completed. She wants to live there for the rest of her life. This place is so fertile and lucsh, that you could literily dig a foot or two at any given spot and water will start gushing out!

The pictures of the camels, sheep and open plains was Balanbale a city settled by Marehan mostly, but in a region (Galgudud/Mudug) where you pretty much have so many clans bunched together. However Marehan slowly started moving away from central Somalia since 1969 and I don't know how much are left in those areas.

Thanks for the info Luq. You aunt is lucky to have seen and lived in Somali's beautiful soil. I hope our generation gets a chance to live and experience what our parents and great parents have. However, that will depend if we give that chance to ourselves first. Most of my family back home live in Galinsoor and Galkacyo, and Axamdulliha, most of my grandparents are alive and they refuse to move out of Somali even when they had the chance to do so. I guess they love their country too much and dont want to die in wadan gaalo or anywhere other than Somalia.

Yea, I definitely noticed that. Nobody wants to leave their country. I guess the best we could do is just keep sending money, heping so that when we do go back there, we have some sort of a country to go back to.
