The Italian narration did sound pretty possesive.

But the country still looked like that, and the people still dressed like that, in the Sixties. I never did see geri, but I saw the rest of that, plus a lot of smaller animals, and we had quite a few elephants around Jilib. We ocassionally saw lion and elephant tracks crossing the dirt road leading west out of town, and commonly saw elephants in the evening coming back to Jilib by bus from Kismayu.

Repeating my question: Is the haircovering on the women in the video the guntino?
