Dear Someone,

It pains me to grasp to the reality that you shall never read this letter.Regardless of this light annoyance i will not be unprevailed as not to write my sentiments henceforth.Allow me to confess my -----my....Rolling Eyes .i dont want to say 'ardent' love because it will sound more violent than it should be.Nor would i under estimate it--and call it 'crush', but rather i will term it an inopportuned ailment, due to the conflicting, over invading nature of the beast.I shall not call it passionate Love for the risk of sounding silly like Charlotte Bronte, rather i will call it-affections to mark the spirit of my Jane Austen. Allow me Sir to declare i have more feelings for you than i have thus 'shewn', and hope to always be met with your beautiful smile.Pardon me, if everytime we encounter i appear speechless, or unwitty---it is not by choice i assure you. From the first time we met- my heart has known no sanity, and my brain no clarity! No doubt, you have been apprised of my feelings by the nature of my uncontrollable blashes, and my somewhat annoying giggles.I will from this henceforth declare one Magnanimous decision of ......

huh darn i dont have the energy to finish the letter Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Ms. Basra, your rant reminds me of the movie “Becoming Jane”, the biographical portrait of a pre-fame Jane Austen and her romance with a young Irishman Tom Lefroy.

Since you are avid reader of Jane Austen's novels...and you probably have seen the movie too.... here she's asked writing about affection:

Mrs. Radcliffe: Of what do you wish to write?
Jane Austen: Of the heart.
Mrs. Radcliffe: Do you know it?
Jane Austen: Not all of it.

LOL@jr looooooooooooooooooooooool

jr i think we may be very well be two separated twins. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Yes i did watch becoming Jane, and i must it was not particularly pleasing. They certainly captured the spunk and spirit of Jane Austen, but certainly the biography scuked. Laughing Laughing

But as to the fictional scene with the gothic 18th century writer radcliff-- that was hilarious. Good actress i must say. ANd the responce of Ann Hathaway was a classic JA's answer. Self depracating realist. She managed to comprehend the depth of the question, yet at the same time honestly answered it. Laughing Laughing Laughing

jr u r a devil!

I am NOT rippin her off, i am merely comemorating her. Laughing Laughing

zulaika YES i did watch Becoming Jane finally. Rolling Eyes

Basically the movie was rather tolerable. Like i told your twin *jr, Hollywood captured the spirit & spunk of JA pretty well. up They portrayed her as this very witty, sharp tongued intelligent young writer who is superior to everyone around her. Her temprament and her wit is just exactly how JA would be, only with a little more class and decorum. However, i am exceedingly furious as to making her life seem exactly like her novel, Pride and Prejucide. Its deplorable to say the least. They make this migid irish Tom Lefroy as a bad God forsaken Mr. Darcy, and Jane with her blonde sister as Eliza and Jane Bennett. Her parents mimic more like Mr and Mrs Bennett, which is a farce in its own magnitude;for Janes real mother-- was of a woman of noble birth. She was the daughter of a Lord Leight. Janes Father comes from a poor farmer origins and obscurity. In the movie they make JA elope with her Hobbit beau briefly, just like how Lydia Bennet did in P & P! Thats rather offense and disgusting i MUST whisper. Shocked The one positive thing i loved about the movie was they included Jane's outlandinsh cousin-- countess Eliza de Feuillide who her husband was guillitined in France.Although they could have used a more prettie Eliza, but i am content with demeanor. She portrayed this sexy, irresistable cool aristocratic aora. She met Marie antoinette by the way, isn't it fascinating?? She mentions it in the movie as well. I have read Eliza de Feuillide's entire 48 surving letters and let me tell u it is orgasm inducing read. Laughing Laughing Laughing

And the whole premise of the movie that this Hobbit, inpsired JA is ludicrious. Its very chauvinistic, not to mention typical of men. I am sure men from the 19th century would still concur with these men who suggest she was only inspired by Tom.Its seems chauvinist and women oppression has never stopped since JA's times! I have read many letters of JA to her sister-- and she seems to make fun of Tom with his perchant to wear white light coat and a love for Tom Jones novel. Laughing Laughing There is no doubt she loved this man, but enough to make her 'occupied' with the idea of being 'in love', nothing beyond that. Rolling Eyes She was never violently in love per se. Hollywood are desperate to believe that she had this epic romantic entourage with Lefroy. (What an ugly last name ma ha ? lol)

One minute they claim she never experienced love and the next minute, they make her into a high styled harlot. Disgusting isn't it-- humanbeings?? Laughing Laughing

Overall, the movie was nice to watch, if only in the name of art. I went in with the mind of not expecting a JA bio, but a snap of world and tidbits of interpretations all in the name of art. Rolling Eyes

I loved how the movie began--- it shows Mr. Austen, the supposed father and clergy man is engaging in a horrible oral activity with Mrs Austen. This is Hollywood's way of saying the man of church was busy having 7 children. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Ms. Basra,

Au contraire. I loved it. Of course it was sad at the end, but lovely all the same. In fact, there were many parts where you had insight into where Jane drew inspiration for her characters and the situation they faced but overall I thought the entire movie was good.

Btw, I thought Lady Gresham (Wisley’s aunt) character played by Maggie Smith was fantastic.
