Assuming U.S primary elections are held who would you vote

Postby *jr » Tue Aug 21, 2007 7:15 pm

Yeah, I know this topic was discussed somewhat before but i want to get a feel of sort where you stand since last debates.

Here is list of candidates of both Parties.....just name one or two of each party who you would vote for in the PRIMERIES.

Democratic candidates in no particular order:

1-Senator Joe Biden

2-Senator Hillary Clinton

3-Senator Christopher Dodd

4-Former Senator John Edwards

5-Former Senator Mike Gravel

6-Representative Dennis Kucinich

7-Senator Barack Obama

8-Governor Bill Richardson

-------------

Republican Candidates in no particular order:

1-Senator Sam Brownback

2-Rudy Giuliani former mayor of New York City

3-Mike Huckabee, former Governor of Arkansas

4-Representative Duncan Hunter

5-Senator John McCain

6-Representative Ron Paul

7-former Governor Mitt Romney

8- Representative Tom Tancredo

Again please pick one candidate you would vote for in the PRIMARIES, not the General Election; one on either party, or two altogether from both parties.

[8- Representative Tom Tancredo]

I think Tancredo would make a fine president.

Rudy "The Mafia Slayer" Giuliani. Without a doubt, he's my presidential pick.

#2 would be Bill Richardson

#3 would be Newt Gingrich

Lets be honest, those are the only viable options in next elections for a presidential seat.

Paidmonk, may I remind you that Newt hasn't entered the race and is unlikely he would enter the race this late stage.....therefore your vote goes to Giuliani for now?

Nader would be a good choice. Unfortunately, without the vote of the corporate and lobbyist groups, his chances of getting elected are nil. In America, it's the vote of the corporate and lobbyist groups that elect the president.

You are right about that. Candidates spend the bulk of the money they raise on political advertising, and given how the media is structured in America there is no reason candidates are to blame....if anything there should be a blame on the system that allows candidates to raise so much money in order to be re-elected. I concur that there should be a better system in place rather candidates spending two thirds of their time outside of Washington fund-raising instead of legislating, but that’s the system we have for now, and it stinks, but until we find alternative I will continue to vote and continue to promote and advocate a better systemm within.

Padishah

both of your selected candidates are admirable, but sadly they are not electable

What utter nonsense.

Who votes the President into office? We the People.

It would follow thus that the electability of a candidate is based on the opinion of the electorate, which will not be revealed until the primaries. This is when the 'electability' of a candidate is shown.

'Glimpses' of the electability of a candidate is conducted through various state straw polls, but with the likes of Mitt Romney either outright stealing them, or busing in his supporters, they aren't really a test of 'electability'.

Anyone else telling you that 'sadly, he's not electable' is doing the dirty work of those whose interests directly collide with yours. And people are dumb enough to ape this line!

You and I would agree that indeed it's the electorate that has the final say on Election Day; however, there is a process that takes place prior to "closing the curtains" and casting your vote. It involves media, pundits, hype, promotions, visibility, etc, etc...and when election date rolls around, most people have already made-up their mind not on issues mind you, but which candidate had the most visibility on television. Yes it's all about the money. All in all, from Primaries to Election Day money are spent and votes manipulated, and in the end, the winner will be the one candidate that raised the most money.
