Both options are flawed and your poll is inaccurate. Islam does not allow for the existence of groups or for one group to call itself we are such and such group.

Takfiri is a conjured up term, most likely by Westerners such as yourself to further split up the Muslim community.

There is a practising Muslim and a non-practising Muslim, everything else is insignificant. Because practising Islam is what differentiates between Muslims and a person's piety is how earns a higher status with Allah.

Good observation. Grant thinks Qutbism is a branch of thought such as the Shaafi'i, Hanbali, etc. We should be patient with Grant, as much of what he knows and copy/pastes about Islam is based on the anti-Islam literature that's abound the internet.

Guys,

Islam no more has a single creed than Christianity does. Sufi, Salafi, Takfiri-Salafi all mean slightly different things and are often in opposition to each other.

It is indeed this question of takfir that separates mainstream Islam from the more radical version.

No, I didn't want you to change the word "extinct", as Sayid Qutb actually used it, though he didn't refer it to Islam. As Koronto91 outlined, both options are flawed and your poll is inaccurate.
