Sudan to help Iraq's Palestinians

The Palestinian envoy to Iraq has said Sudan is willing to take in Palestinian refugees who are stranded on Iraq's borders with Syria and Jordan.

The offer came after Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir received a letter from the Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas.

The UN refugee agency has expressed concern over the deteriorating conditions for the hundreds of Palestinians in camps on the borders.

They have tried to leave Iraq, but have been refused entry by Jordan and Syria.

Palestinians have felt especially vulnerable to the violence in Iraq as they enjoyed generous financial support from former government of Saddam Hussein, who championed the Palestinian cause.

Their healthcare, school and housing were subsidised and many received government jobs, leading to resentment among many Iraqis.

The UNHCR estimates about 34,000 Palestinians currently live in Iraq. Between 200 and 300 have been killed since the US-led invasion in 2003.

I am applauding the Sudanese for helping their Palestinian brothers and sisters. I don't believe in the lies George Clooney, Mia Farrow and other "saviors" tell about Sudan.

I too would applaud them for that act if i was blind to the suffering of Sudanese people, i hate hypocrisy with passion.

Upto 4 million civilians (mostly Christians) were massacred in Congo in a span of 5 years (1998-2003). There are still massacres in Congo. Where were, where are the "saviors" to save Congo? Why do Christian "saviors" care about Muslims but are indifferent to fellow Christians?

I agree that the Darfur issue is being raised and promoted not out of genuine humanatarian concern but for other sinister aims.

AbdiWahab252, there's a local problem (figting over meagre resources) in Darfur that concerns the local people who live there. The problem existed for decades (during or even before the Numeiri era), but come into full-blown media attention when Sudan was about to start exporting petrol. Now, the problem got expanded and complex, as a number of groups have been armed by America and Europe. The American and European interference has also caused an influx of displaced Sudanis.

If Somalia comes under the control of the Islamic Courts Union and is about to start exporting petrol (with the help of non-Western companies, i.e. Chinese, Malaysian), do you think the West will leave Somalia alone without interference? No, the "Arabized Somalis" (i.e. Islamic Courts Union) would be accused of discrimination against the Midgan, raping the Cad Cads, enslaving the Bantus and all sorts of other crimes and atrocities. America and Europe would arm and train the Midgan, Cad Cads, Bantus and others. They would also create "safe havens" and "no-fly-zones." Think about it.

It has been going on for 15yrs or so, so now its got some media attention and aid or twisted justice, you deny it simply because it being exploited?, So the killing should continue?

Congo is deserves the same attention, and it gets much more, 'The Democratic Republic of the Congo, to use its current and sadly self-mocking name, is on life support, attended around the clock by aid organizations, international bankers, diplomats and, above all, by a vast U.N. civilian and military operation costing $1 billion a year' Newyorktimes.

I don't care how its being exploited, but it worst to deny it existance and underestimate it.

+chilli, you're biased towards what non-Muslims report about Sudan. I am biased towards what Sudanis report of their country, because I share with them Islam. The biased Iraq reports (WMDs, nuclear bomb, etc) by non-Muslims caused the death of 1 million or more Iraqi Muslims. You're entitled to be biased towards non-Muslim reports.
