62 Lt. CKUTTENDEN on the Edoor Tribes and the Darrood,
The Haber Gerhajis, the eldest branch of the three tribes
of Edoor, reside chiefly in the mountains to the south of Berbera,
whence they extend to the country of Ogahden. They
are a powerful and warlike tribe, numbering many horses, in
addition to their flocks and herds, and have a nominal sultaun,
who possesses, however, but little influence or power over his
savage subjects. From this branch of the family of Isaakh
sprung the venerable saint Aber Khudle, whose tomb, southwest
from Berbera two days' journey^ is yet the rendezvous,
when any grave question arises affecting the interests of the
Edoor tribes in general. On a paper yet carefully preserved
in the tomb, and bearing the sign-manual of Belat, the slave of
one of the early Khaleefehs, fresh oaths of lasting friendship
and fresh alliances are made, to be broken again, as usual,
without a shadow of provocation. In the season of 1846 this
holy relic was brought to Berbera in charge of the Haber
Gerhajis, and on it the rival tribes of Aial Ahmed and Aial
Yunus swore to bury all animosity, and live as brethren in
future—with how much sincerity, the events of the two succeeding
seasons amply show, some scores of lives having been lost
on both sides.

Now Ilko Yar Boy DalwadMaroxaar,

And you are supposedly 30. Did the Brit KNOW Kownayn was Iddoor or was he told as part of clan mythology or does the Brit KNOW where Kownayn was buried or did some Iddoor point his finger and said that is where Kownayn is buried.
I have never in my life heard Kownayn was Iddoor and I will not hear it now. Teeda kale if he Somalized the Arabic alphabet how is that "written Somali".
And there are two types of reading the Arabic alphabets in Somalia: Alif la kor dhabay and the Alif wax maale.
Now get out of here with the bullshit bucur bacayr was a midgaan and the great ancestor of Iddoor.

This is very interesting thread !
I always thought Yusuf Al-Kowneyn was an Arab or Asharaf but never as an Ishaaq.
Can someone tell us how long did Mr. Bucur-Baceyr rule the Northern part of Somalia ?

DalwadXaar,
Now look how you emmbaressed yourself, out of sheer Kuumbo argumentive habit you threw yourself apart literlay slitting your arse. Iam not a man who unlike your Kuumbo peiece of Xaar claim the bogus and golorify the minor.
As to my second part of the argument , Qawdhadan Ducaale Suldaan Guuleed the poet of poets answering to Xarbi Ismaaciil Dheere his Ogaadeen counterpart, ridiculing the unholly orgin of the Daarood said:
Annagay awoow noo ahayd, awliyada qaare
Aw Yuusuf baa noo muddo ah, iidda loo kaca'e
Goortuu ishaaray baa Qudbiga, ururku joogaaye
Adna reer Wardheeriyo jin baa, kuu agaasimane
Ilmihii Fircoon baad ahayd, ubadki Qaaruune
(Qawdhan Ducaale Suldaan 1928)
Again Qawdhan Ducaale refering to Yuusuf Aw Barakhdle:
Eray kalana waa Ciidagale midan ku dheereeyey
Sheekh Yuusuf waa laga dhabqay ee dhab u siyaareeya
Culimada wankii dhaban leh iyo dhebi-cadkaw sooca
Now these are both side of the argument.. what has Kuumbos beyond pure vemeouse jealosuy deny the origin of the venerated Isaaq sheekh, Its well known that Sheekh Yuusuf Al Kawnayn is the second holliest shrine of Isaaq after Sheekh Isxaaq.

I've heard this Yibir story as a kid, would be interested to learn if there is any truth to it, or if its simply a myth?

Look at this idiot. Gabay is not objective history and not a source for factual information. There are many themes of Gabay such as Barooradiiq, Guubaabo, Guhaadin, etc. Gabay does not exist because it is a window of Somali history but an expression of our feelings at whatever time. A man who just lost a war can make a gabay conseling himself saying he won the war and such and another might down-play his victory for guubaabo purposes in order to make sure his clansmen keep up their guard. Both of those gabays can be translated differently in the future from the actual experience it was borne from.
Now bring some real history sukker.

i thought shiekh yusuf kownien was from the 12th century,
this means that he is not Issaq and not darood.
he is most likley somali.
we should not ascribe everything to mythical arabs that come and play decisive roles in somali affairs, when the story of shiekh yusuf kownien was bieng played out, islam has been in the region for more than 500 years.

Dawlad Xaar,
What do you know about been an objective ? you brought no argument what so ever to back up your calim to the contrary as a typical Kuumbo you came with an argumentive bubble and the I purset it easily.
Its obvious who Yuusuf Aw Barkhadle was, from all sources , be it western , be it oral somali history and even from the fact of the location of his shrine and their builders, all point to a single fact ,that he was no Arab but a Somali Isaaq.
Gurey,
You are conteradicting yourself, at your post you began with the fact he was an Arab and then you claimed he was a Somali??
Yuusuf Al Kawnayn was a poineer sufist and a Somali , not an Arab.
