[quote]Gun battle between Puntland Supported Militia and Maakhiri Forces in Southern Sanaag

A gun battle took place today [7/09/07] in Sarmanyo area of Southern Sanaag between the Maakhiri Forces and charcoal traders militia supported by Puntland technical and battlewagons.

This is the 4th major gun fight between the charcoal traders and Maakhir Security Forces since the declaration of Maakhir State of Somalia in Sanaag and Western Bari.

The town of Sarmanyo is in Southern Sanaag and mainly are inhabited by Warsangelis and Dhulbahate of Sool region.

Initial reports are suggesting that there are casualties between the warring factions and the Maakhir Security Forces suffered 3 injured soldiers while the Charcoal traders Militias suffered 1 casualty, 1 injured and more importantly 10 captured individuals and one battle wagon.

The Maakhiri Security forces have bases outside the city of Dhahar, the second capital of the new State.

Maakhir Authority issued a ban on charcoal trading as this region is suffering desertification due to mass trading and cutting acacias trees for charcoal purposes.

The biggest market for illegal produced charcoal from Maakhir and Somalia as a whole, are the Arab states.

The "Black Gem"

Puntland sending their army to protect the charcoal producers who are doing their stuff illegally and promoting desertification is messed up though. Is there no depth to which Adde Musa will sink? Sad

These events will hammer in the final nail to the coffin of Puntland militia.
It is a cover up war though, but we will see who wins in this cover up sort of love that destroys nature and inflames conflict.

They can never reach the mountains. The mountains are highly protected but difficult terrain to penetrate. It is the Southern Sool Sanaag where we have borders with the lazy Dhullos and other Harti clans.
