There are differences actually. Ethiopia is dominated by the Tigrai, while Eritrea is dominated by the Tigre. They're both Habesha, but then again Darod and Hawiye are both Somali.
By the way, the Tigre of Eritrea are mostly Muslim, unlike the Tigrai of Ethiopia who are mostly Christian.
James the Fake, don't come under my axe again. Tigres are a people who only live in Eritrea, but Afeworki and the ruling elite of Eritrea are Tigreys (Tigrai) just like Zenewi and the ruling elite of Ethiopia. Tigres are a minority group and do not constitute a major force of power. It is the Tigrey (Tigrai) speaking Tigrinya who are powerful in both nations.
Both groups have sizable Muslim populations but the Muslim Tigreys (Tigrai) are called Jaberti and differentiate themselves from the larger Christian Greek Orthodox Tigreys of Afeworki and Zenewi.
EPLF did start out as a majority Muslim organizationa and is the reason they got alot of funding and support from Somalia and the Middle East but go read any book and found out how the Muslims were later rooted out by Afeworki and the larger Christian supporters. Muslims in Ethiopia are actually respected excluding the separatist cases like the Ogaden, OLF, etc but Muslims in Eritrea are NOT respected. That is the difference between Ethiopia and Eritrea.
