Increase your Islamic knowledge

Postby Sir-Luggoyo » Tue Sep 18, 2007 12:29 pm

== Did you know that Fircown (Pharoah) pleaded with Mussa (AS) when he was drawning in the Nile for seventy times to save him. Allah (SW) said "Had he asked Me once, I would've saved him"

==Did you know that Zuleikha (the women who tried to seduce prophet Yusuf (AS), after she closed all the doors and windows, she also covered the Idol she worshipped so it can't see what she is about to commit !!!!

== Did you know that the Saxaabi Abu Darr El-Ghafari (RA) b4 he embraced Islam, had an Idol at home, and one day he came home only to find that a fox peed on his god!! that is when he realized how lost he was and he embraced Islam.

== Did you know that prophet Muhammad (SAW) was born at a prostrating position "Wulida saajidan"

== Did you know that the first milk that went down his throat were from a Slave woman named Sowda from Ethiopia.

== Did you know that when she told the good news of the prophet's (SAW) birth to Abu Lahab (his uncle) that he was so happy he freed her on the spot. Do you think that good deed that Abu Lahab did is lost to Allah? No, prophet Muhammad (SAW) was born on a Monday, therefore, Abu Lahab's punishment in the hellfire will be eased every Monday because of that.

== Did you know that prophet Ayub (AS) was bed ridden for 18 years!!.......One day, his wife asked him to beseach Allah (SW) to heal his ailments. He said he is too shy to ask Allah for that. Then he asked his wife "How many years have I been healthy?" She answered "Seventy years" he asked again "How many years have I been sick?" she responded "18 years" he said "When I am bed ridden for seventy years, is when I think I should ask Allah to restore my health"
Well, how did he get his health? he was told "Urkudl rijleeka" Move your feet, the water gushed from under him, he was told again "Haathaa mughtasilun baaridun wa sharaabun" Bath to release outer ailment, and drink to ease inner ailment, simple as that. His children and wealth was also restored.

== Did you know that prophet Yacqub (AS) saw the angel of death in a dream and asked him if he had seized the soul of his son Yusuf (AS), and the angel of death responded that he is not commanded to do so until the two of you meet. And did you know that prophet Yacqub (AS) became blind because of the tears he shed for his son Yusuf (AS)

I knew that Bilaal was the first Muezzin, but did you knew that Bilaal is the last muezzin?

When the resurrection starts and the angels go to the prophet's (SAW)grave to tell him that the qiyaamah saaca is on, the first thing he asks is "How is my ummah" He doesn't ask about his daughters, uncles or aunts. then the angels will respond "Ummatuka bikheyr yaa Rasulallah" then he comes to the Maxshar with Bilal (RA) on his right and he will recite the last Azzan

Masha Allah.

-Did you know that Prophet Adam (as) lived to be 960 years old?

-Did you know that when Malakul Mowt came to take Prophet Musa's soul, the Prophet fought him, causing the angel to return to Allah & say "Rabi, you have sent me to a man who is not ready to die". After which Musa accepted his fate & with his permission, the angel took Musa's soul.

-Did you know that no Prophet's soul was ever taken without their permission?

-Did you know that Yusha' Bin Nun (Joshua) was Prophet Musa's son?

Alchemist,

It's not from one book but various different books.

Biif Baaf,

Masha Allah. But bro make sure, I have some doubts that the prophet that wrestled with Malakul Mawt, I think was prophet Yacqub (AS)

Did you know that the only time prophet Muhammad(SAW) got close to listening to musical instruments was, one day at age 6 or 7, he was tending some goats with a friend of his and they heard music coming from a wedding that was being conducted. He asked his friend to look after his goats so he could get to the wedding and listen to the music, but he fell asleep b4 he reached the venue and spent the night sleeping, oblivious to his surrounding until late

Did you know that Hind actually ate part of Hamza's liver, and even though the man who martyred Hamza embraced Islam later, prophet Muhammad (SAW)never looked him in the eyes, he was always avoiding his face

Did you know that when prophet Muhammad (SAW) was migrating to Madina with Abu Bakr (RA), one of the best horsemen of Quraish caught up with them, but could net get hold of them. Something was holding his horse back, nevertheless the prophet (SAW) promised him if he keeps silent of their whereabouts, he would give him the bracelet of the king of Rome. Now, imagine this scenario, a refugee man who is on the verge of being caught and executed, promising someone the bracelet of the king of the superpower of that time. The man accepted the offer, and actually got it during Khaleef Omar Ibn Al-Khtaab's time.

SL: yes, it was Prophet Musa (as) according to a hadith. I was listening to Anwar Al-Awlaki's series called: "The Lives Of The Prophets" whereby he discusses every Prophet from Adam to Issa (as).

Prophet Musa (as) was a very strong man and hot tempered compared to the other Prophets. He was also very shy & modest. Reer Bani Israi'il spread all sorts of rumors about his modesty, to the point they accused him of having leprosy: thus the reason why he never uncovered his body.

-Did you know that Prophet Suleyman (as) once said: " I will sleep with 100 of my wives and all of the sons that are conceived in such an affair, I will dedicate them all to Allah's cause (Jihad)". He slept with his wives, 9 months later none of the wives gave birth to a normal human child. Why? because he failed to say "Insha Allah" when he was making such a promise.

Biif Baaf,

Just curious, not trying to start anything here.

If Yusha' bin Nun (Joshua, the son of Nun) was Musa's son, why wasn't he called Yusha' bin Musa?

(The Bible says that Moses didn't have children, which is why the Levites all descended from Moses' brother, Aaron.)

Senore Grant: The Bible can say whatever it pleaseth. But I know my Islamic education and it is widely accepted concensus that Yusha Bin Nun was Musa's son. In Arabic tradition, the word Bin is sometimes used to imply being the son of xxxx which can be a name or a nickname. Its not clear.

Furthermore, Musa (as) did have other children. It was Issa that did not marry or leave behind any children.

Biif Baaf,
------
The article in Wikipidia on the Islamic understanding of Moses also translates the name as Joshua, son of Nun. This story is from an Islamic magazine.
Would you please check it out and see if it agrees with the other information you have?

Travel to the Junction of the Two Seas

By Mufti Md. Shahbuddin Sabeeli

Prophet Musa (Pbuh) got up to deliver a speech before the children of Israel and he was asked who is the most learned person among the people? Hazrat Musa (Pbuh) replied, “I am the most learned”. Allah admonished him for he did not ascribe knowledge to Allah alone. So Allah revealed to him: At the junction of the two seas there is a slave of ours who is more learned than you. Hazrat Musa (Pbuh) asked, “O my Lord! How can I meet him”? Allah said, Take a fish and put it in a basket (and set out) and where you, will lose the fish, you will find him.

So Hazrat Musa took a fish and put it in a basket and set out, along with his boy-servant Yusha bin Nun, till they reached a rock on which they both lay their heads and slept. The fish moved vigorously in the basket and got out of it and fell in to the sea and there it took its way through the sea (straight) as in a tunnel. When Hazrat Musa got up, his companion forgot to tell him about the fish and so they carried on, their journey during the rest of the day and the whole night.

The next morning Hazrat Musa asked his servant ‘Bring us our early meal, no doubt, we have suffered much fatigue in this journey of ours”. Hazrat Musa did not feel tired till he had passed the place which Allah had ordered him to seek for. His boy-servant then said to him.

“Do you remember when we were resting on the rock! Indeed we forgot the fish, none but Satan made me forget to remember it. It took its course into the sea in a marvellous way. There was a tunnel for the fish and for Hazrat Musa and his boy-servant. Hazrat Musa said: “That is where what we have been seeking for.” So they returned, retracing their steps till they reached the rock. Behold! There they found a man covered with a garment. Hazrat Musa greeted him. Hazrat Khidhar said astonishingly ‘Is there such a greeting in your land’? Hazrat Musa said. “I am Moses”. He said: “Are you the Moses of the children of Israel? Hazrat Moses said, “Yes” and added, “I have come to you so that you may teach me of what you have been taught”. Hazrat Khidhar said “you will not be able to have patience with me. O Moses? I have some of Allah’s knowledge which He had bestowed upon me but you do not know it, and you too have some of Allah’s knowledge which he has bestowed upon you, but I do not know it.”

Hazrat Musa said “Allah willing you will find me patient and I will not disobey you in anything”. Hazrat Khidhar said to him `If you follow me, do not ask me about anything until I myself speak to you concerning it? After that both of them proceeded along the sea coast till a boat passed by and they requested the crew to let them get on board.

The crew recognised Hazrat Khidhar and allowed them to get on the boat free of charge. When they got on board, suddenly Hazrat Musa saw that Hazrat Khidhar had pulled out one of the planks of the boat with an adze. Hazrat Musa said to him: “These people gave us a free ride, yet you have scuttled their boat, so as to drown its people Truly! You have done a dreadful thing.”

Hazrat Khidhar said: “Didn’t I tell you that you will have no patience with me?” Hazrat Musa said: “Call me not to account for what I forgot and be not hard upon me for my mistake.” The first excuse given by Hazrat Musa (Pbuh) was that he had forgotten”. Then a sparrow came and sat over the edge of the boat and dipped its beak once in the sea. Hazrat Khidhar said to Hazrat Musa My knowledge and yours compared to Allah’s knowledge is like what this sparrow has taken out of the sea. Then they both got out of the boat and while they were walking on the sea shore. Hazrat Khidhar got hold of the boy twisted his head and killed him. Hazrat Musa said, “have you killed an innocent soul who has killed nobody! Truly you have done an atrocious thing.” He said: “Didn’t I tell you that you would not have patience with me?” Hazrat Musa said: “If I ask you about anything after this, keep me not in your company.” Then they both proceeded until they came to the inhabitants of a town. They asked them for food but the people refused to entertain them, (in that town) there they found a wall on the verge of falling down Hazrat Khidhar set it straight with his own hands. Hazrat Musa said: “These are the people to whom we came but they neither fed us nor received us as guests. If you had wished, you could surely have exacted wages for it. Hazrat Khidhar said: This is the parting between me and you. (Bukhari:12/690)

Moral of the Story
There are numerous issues to be discussed on. But we are going to limit ourselves to a few of them for the sake of abridgement. A widely known Islamic scholar Ibn Munabhah has written that the name of Hazrat Khidhar was “Ablayan bin Malkan”. His fore-father was Hazrat Noah (Pbuh). (Qurtubi:11/30)

“Khidhar” is an Arabic word which means green or verdant. He was called Hazrat Khidhar as whenever he used to sit on barren land and desolate place, the land was changed into a greenland. (Tirmizi:2/148). There are a number of commentators who thought that he was a Prophet (Ranul-Ma’ani:15/293). But he was given inspired knowledge by revelation (Tafseer-e-Razi:1/350)

Some scholars say that Hazrat Khidhar is still alive, because he drunk water of immortality. Allama Qurtubi favours this opinion. But the proofs he gave for his idea, are not very convincing and accurate. (Qurtubi:11/30). On the contrary Hafiz Ibn Kaseer and Ibn Jauzi have given various reasons to condemn that idea and they said with firm conviction that Hazrat Khidhar is not alive. He died a natural death. Imam Bukhari, Qazi Abu Bakar Ibn Arabi and other scholars of tradition agreed with this point of view. (Tafseer Ibn Kaseer:3/98)

There are more points in the story which are as follows: We should travel in search of knowledge whether it be a long journey or short and likewise face all sorts of difficulties that come in our way. The Prophet (Pbuh) himself said encouraging the seekers of knowledge, Allah makes way easy for him to Heaven”. (Abu-Dawood: 2/513).

However, Islamic knowledge has very different and lofty position among other worldly knowledge, therefore the seekers of knowledge travelled throughout the world to get it. Imam Bukhari and other scholars of tradition have mentioned this Hadith under the chapter “Excellence of journey for the sake of knowledge”. This particular journey of Hazrat Musa was of a similar nature.
