Great Men that I admire !

Postby AbdiWahab252 » Fri Sep 21, 2007 11:19 am

Great Men that I admire !

1. Ahmed Gurey - For his struggle against the Ethiopia Emperor and the Portugese !

2. Sayiid Abdulle Hassan - The Father of Somali Nationalism and anticolonial struggle and his countless poems.

3. Samora Machel - First President of Mozambique, a fierce Anticolonial and AntiAparthied revolutionary.

4. Mwalimu Julius Nyerere - First President of Tanzania and leading PanAfricanist. Mwalimu Nyerere helped create a national identity for a patchwork of multitribal society.

5. Shaka Zulu - A military strongman and Emperor of the Zulu. He lead his Zulu warriors to great victories and fought both the Boers and British colonialists.

6. Patrice Lumumba - The Father of the Congolese nation. His bold attempts at creating a free Congo and his stalwart commitment to not getting recolonized by becoming client state of the West is to be admire.

7. Gamal Nassar of Egypt - The founding father of the PanArabism. He resisted attempts to be subjugated by the European powers. His unfoundering support for a Free Palestine and the creation of a PanArab State has to be commended.

8. Mansa Musa of Mali - The King of Mali who transformed his kingdom into one of the premier centers of knowledge in ancient times. His strong adherence to Islam and to seeking knowledge was something that no African leader has been able to duplicate.

9. Kwame Nkrumah - Another leading PanAfricanist who helped found the OAU and was a leading advocate for a United States of Africa. His long struggle against colonialism and his strong promotion of the idea of African unity and that Africa is for Africans makes him a great man.

10. Steven Biko - A prominent South African activist whose life was cut short by the Aparthied Government. A trade unionist who helped organize resistance to the unjust Aparthied policies all the while being inside the country is to be respected.

AbdiWahab252, you admire more non-Muslims than Muslims. As a Muslim, you're supposed to admire more Muslims. At least include one of the following Muslims in your list:

1. Osama bin Laden.

2. Al-Zawahiri.

3. Hassan Nasrallah.

4. Omar Muhammad.

5. Dahir Aweys.

Arabman,

I don't admire anyone on your list. In fact, I abhor them.

Muslims on my list: Mansa Musa, Gamal Nasser, Ahmed Gurey, Sayiid Abdulle Hassan. 40% ain't nothing to sneeze at.

LAFO LAFO:

Dambiga iska dhaaf. Sayiidka for all his actions was a man who was either admired by his supporters or the average Somali or respected by his enemies.

Why should we admire the list composed of the likes of OSama?

I only have respect for Nasrallah for been pragmatic and effective instead of the rest who are cloud-dwelling extermists.

At least if you want to lead people, lead them with wisdom. Hezbollah is the only group which is organized effective and are following well-known tactics which have been proven by history. Hence, their effectiveness in the war against Israel and the widespread support it enjoyes from the masses of Lebanon.

I admire Vo Nguyen Giap, the military man behind the struggle of the Vietnamese people for independance. Vietminh army under his leadership faced: Japanese, French, American, Chinese etc...yet they prevailed against all odds. He is a military genius.

[I don't admire anyone on your list. In fact, I abhor them.]

AbdiWahab252, I understand why you can't express your admiration for them even if you admire them. You're afraid of being labeled as "terrorist", "extremist", etc.
