Are you worried about the next generation?

Postby East.Co » Fri Sep 28, 2007 1:04 pm

I just want to say that our generation of somalis 16-30's the level of xishood and the knowledge of our dhaqan is far from satisfactory (i.e. language skills).

And you see all the asians yh on road...they have been in the UK and western world a generation earlier than somalis yh...n finissh bay noqden get me...drinkin n ting...changin der names to english names n stuff

And im just worried about our next generation of somalis....they aint gonna know the somali language half of dem and...i hear people my age want to call der kids 'kariim, sara, lucky, malik, djibril' although they are muslim names, they just want their kids to fit in with english people....but what about 'karim, malik and djibril, sarah and lucky', what about their kids..soon it will 'john, david, noah' and their excuse will be that its the arab names in 'english version' and its not just the name thing, it will get worse trust me...

Sorry...i think i ranted on a bit but like im just so wrried bout the future of somali people in the western world...too many tempations and I fear for my children and my childrens children.

I would say 0.01% of asians are lost from their culture. Most of them speak their language and they have big long indian names that they shorten to bobby or whatever. The bengalis and pakistanis got a lot of heroin problems in London but they have that problem in their own countries as well, Afghanistan is the largest heroin producer and they right next door. Even the crack heroin addicted asians hold onto their culture more than somalis. Only a somali could claim not to speak somali after 3 years in the west Surprised
