Meheri is one of the largest tribes inhabiting the Al Mahrah Governorate in Yemen, parts of Somalia, and other Arabian countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arab and Kuwait.

Meheri people who inhabit Somalia are mainly of the Bin Neebir sub-clan (Mohamud Salah, Hassan Salah, Omar Musse and others ), Bin Mashowle (Reer Cali Siciid, Reer Canshuur) and Bin Bixdi (Reer Cawad, Reer Taabid). The Meheris are resourceful merchants who took lions share in finding and establishing most of urban Somali communities (cities & towns) and overall advancement of Somali civilization.

It is well known fact that prominent Meheri business people reside in the centre of town and cities of Somalia from coast to coast. Their contribution to the country is of immense proportions comparing to size of this noble community. The Meheri are part of Al Bu Muhair tribe which itself part of Bani Yas
That's nonsence, what urban did they help found the Meheri?..They are not even found in Southern Somalia. There were never many urban centres in central, east and northern Somalia.

Secondly we live in the age of genetics Carabta Maxamuud Saalax i am certain don't have Arab or Mahra origins, they are use to belong to the same grouping with the Somali Midgaans, which explains why people never use to marry them few generations ago.

Seems like someone got mad Laughing

Firstly, there is no prove that woman is Hawiye, she could be from any Somali grouping or tribe. Bringing suffering of poor Somalian women in a foreign country would in no way support your claim to have origins other than Midgaan and it would certainly not offend me.

Secondly, I agree with you that in the past no one (the 'noble' tribes) use to marry into Carabta Maxamuud Saalax, so howcome your people have the same phenotypes as Somalis and not Arab/Mahra?..Is it because maybe you have your origins among Somalis?

I can understand why your people decided to change their origins because they belonged to people who were traditionally discriminated against. Most of Midgaan people use to claim to belong to other tribes just to be accepted, Carabta Maxamuud Saalax choose to identify with the Mahra. That was the norm then. I don’t know why you should get offended by this.

They are Yaxar tribe who brought their way out and status because they had money. Their Yaxye Saalax cousins are still considared Yaxar to this day.

Thoose people could be from any tribe my friend and they are mostly poor people. Not all people who are fleeing Mogadishu are Hawiye.

I know they marry Majeerteen, but when did this start?

My grandmother who died of a very old age was Majeerteen and she told me they never use to marry them when she was a little girl or genarations before her. I have also asked alot of older people from that region who told me the same.

Don't get me wrong I am not insisting here that they should be Yaxar because they were considared in the past as such. All the Midgaan Yaxar people belonged to noble tribes in the past and they were just oputcasted for whatever reasons. What I am saying is they are not Mahra/Arab in origins. But if they want to be such it's up to them.

History shows us that the Somali people have enjoyed special cultural and commercial relationships with their brothers in Yemen, which date back to thousands of years. In the course of history people from both sides of the Red Sea have immigrated from one side to the other in search of life and adventure. For instance, the Meheri in Yemen are also found in Somalia (Puntland) as a Somali clan and physically the people and their landscape is quite similar to the northern parts of Somalia and those who reside it.
Above all, the following footprints reveals that:
1. The Pharoahs known the incense producing areas in the Red Sea as the Punt.
2. Meheri & Somalis live side by side in Socotra which is adjacent to the Somali peninsula and the longest mountain in Socotra is called “ The Somali mountain”.
3.The Kingdom of Arwa in Yemen is considered as a Somali historical event by the Somalis and locally they call it “Arawello”.
4. The well-known historian , Ibn Khalduun has stated that the Somali and Mehri people have common ancestors.
5. In Dufaar , there are ancient graves with heaps of stones while in Somalia there are similar graves known by the Somalis as the “grave monuments” or “ Taallo geeriyaad” in Somali.
6.There are strong indications that oil will be found in Somalia just like Yemen.
7.The political situation in Somalia looks like that of Yemen when the southern part of Yemen declared independence in order to weaken the unity of the Yemeni people and strangely we have the self declared government of S/land in Somalia.
On this occasion , I would like to thank his excellency President Ali Abdalla for his relentless efforts in the Somali peace process and I wish him the best the new Somali President Mr. Abullahi Yusuf, who was recently on official visit to Yemen.

Expose what?

Mahra are their own people. Carabta Maxamuud Saalax of Somalia have no Mahra origins, their origins are from the Yaxar people of Somalis.

Midgaan is just a label, same as Gob, Aji, Bilis, Jareer, Gibilcad and so on. Anyone or tribe who were outcasted from their tribe for what ever reason use to became a Midgaan.
