A poem composed 4 thousands yrs ago

Postby Somali2003 » Sun Oct 21, 2007 7:00 am

We are birds of the same nest,
We may wear different skins,
We may speak different languages,
We may belong to different cultures,
Yet we share the same home --Our Earth
For man can live individually,
But can survive only collectively,
Born on the same planet,
Covered by the same skies,
Gazing at the same stars,
Breathing the same air,
We must learn to happily progress together,
Or miserably persih together

By Atharva Veda (4000 years ago)

Translated by Samar Singh. Atharva was an Indian

You right, we are caught up in the clash between ecology and globalization. The small world is born by the globalization stuff, which has also historical dimension. People are killing each other for scarce resoucers and plants are beng destroyed faster than they can recover, but the most profound lesson is that if we want to sustain our lives and the lives of the future generation , we must be able to contorl the industrial and commercial systems ratcheting up the present day production and exploitation which in turn feul internal and external conflicts.

Somali2003 Shocked

I thought the lesson of the poem was emphasizing the unification and commonality of the human race?

'we must be able to contorl the industrial and commercial systems ratcheting up the present day production and exploitation which in turn feul internal and external conflicts'

How did it progress to commerce and industrialization debate? Somali2003....the ONLY thing that fuels internal and external conflicts amongs any nations, are purely Human flaws We are inehrently flawed, and our shortcomings as imperfect creatures will always come in our way. This shortcomings dates from the day, Prophet Adam succumed to pressure from Eve of eating the apple.ANd course Sheydaan who one could say is the culprit or catayste of all human sufferings and catastrophes.
