270 is much more likely to be aronud 25. The Somalis are famous for hyperbole and there is no way the ONLF is going to mass enough troops to create a gunfight or series of them that results in this number of casualties. This is close to Vietnam proportions. Not happening.

There is no way any the death of the Ethiopian soldiers could have been exaggerated. The ONLF are the most dangerous rebel group in Ethiopia, and are responsible for the killings of thousands of government troops in the Ogaden. These fighters are highly organized, self contained forces which are capable of take out an entire Ethiopian ballation face to face.

NY,

They seem to have mastered not only the art of war but politically-wise as well.

Kadarre,

The information is factual, not "booto". Rolling Eyes

For your info, there is actually an AFP reporter in Ogadenia now embeded with the ONLF fighters and this reporter videotyped over 300 dead Ethiopians in Doollo region alone. When the video gets posted, I wonder what these doubting forumers would say.

One advantage that works for ONLF is the environment and its people. Basically everyone is with ONLF.

Is the ONLF mastering the IED?
I think Eritrea could help them develop that asymmetric warfare capacity.

I think that would be horrible for Ethio convoys.

I spent a year in the Ogaden, worked closely with the Ethiopian Army (which did not operate in fear, believe me) and there is NO WAY the ONLF can take on a battalion sized element. NO WAY.

You guys are living in a pipe dream if you think the ONLF can put moer than a couple of thousand fighters in the field total.

You are NOT a military expert, therefore you are a dumbass. Let’s go over the basics, Mac. First of all, a ballation range from 500-1000 soldiers.Again, you’re a dumbass. As you claimed many times in here, that you are a former army man you would know that a ballation is the smallest military unit there is.However,an Ethiopian ballation typically have more than 1000-2000 soldiers(depending on the area they are stationed). And it takes about 1000 ONLF fighters to overwhelme a ballation of that size.If you don’t believe me, just ask Meles Zenawi.
